“Make sure that you don’t give Bribes”, President tells Investors

President Yoweri Museveni has once again cautioned investors in the country not be wooed by anyone for bribes.
“Make sure that you don’t give bribes. You have seen those I have arrested and many are on the list,” he said.
The President was meeting the Honorary Consul of Switzerland who is the Managing Director of ROKO Construction Limited, Mark Koehler and his delegation.
During the meeting that took place this afternoon at State House, Entebbe, President Museveni said that his government has for a time embarked on the ‘link roads' effort to all the districts countrywide at government cost. He disclosed that there is now an urgent need to build eight access and major roads in the oil fields in the Albertine area worth US$6,000 billion. He also noted that the the Kampala – Jinja highway construction will be under the same project.
“Without compromising quality work, Roko Construction Limited should construct two or so roads among them. I will happily support Roko construction road works in the country,” he said.
Roko Construction Managing Director, Mark Koehler, on his part said he is willing to invest in Uganda’s infrastructure in partnership with the government in order to realize long-lasting structures, using local materials and local manpower.
Roko Construction Company is renowned internationally in the sector of construction especially in erection of buildings. In Uganda its local works date way back in 1969. The Company constructed Bank of Uganda headquarters, Crested Towers, Workers’ House, Nalukolongo Railway workshop and Mapeera House, headquarters of Centenary Bank, among others.
