HH Aga Khan concludes visit to Uganda

His Highness the Aga Khan, who has been in Uganda at the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni as guest of honour at the country’s 55th independence anniversary celebrations, today concluded his visit and left the country.

During his 4-day stay in Uganda, the Aga Khan, who is 49th hereditary spiritual leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismail Muslims, founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), was decorated with the Most Excellent Order of the Pearl of Africa medal, in recognition of his colossal contributions to Uganda’s Development and to humanity.

President Yoweri Museveni decorated the Aga Khan during the celebrations marking Uganda’s 55th Independence anniversary that was held in Bushenyi district on Monday 9th October 2017.
The Aga Khan was seen off this morning at Entebbe International Airport by the Attorney General, Mr. Byaruhanga William and Ambassador Amin Mawji, who is the the diplomatic representative of the Aga Khan Development Network in Uganda.
