President Commends People of Kiryandongo District for their Unwavering Support

President Yoweri Museveni has commended the people of Kiryandongo District in Bunyoro Sub-Region for supporting him and the NRM throughout the elections process over the years.
The President was speaking during a by-election campaign for Kibanda North Constituency held today at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Kiryandongo Town Council Kiryandongo district for Member of Parliament for Kibanda North Constituency of Bunyoro Sub-Region. Mr. Sam Otada, an Independent candidate, is challenging NRM’s Taban Amin for the constituency.
“You have rendered your unwavering support to me and NRM through all the elections processes. NRM is the only one that has ensured peace throughout Uganda in a period of over 500 years. After independence, we had conflict in various parts of the country that included Karamoja Sub-Region. It is only during the NRM leadership when Uganda has enjoyed peace. This is the first time for us to have the peaceful environment,” he said.
The President called on the voters in the constituency to elect Mr. Taban Idi Amin, the NRM flag bearer, as the new MP. The elections are slated for Thursday 10th August 2017 following the nullification of the 2016 elections by the courts of law.
He said that the Government has played a leading role in providing infrastructure such as good roads, water supply to both urban and rural areas. He announced that the Government has completed the rehabilitation of Kawempe – Gulu road that was previously in a sorry state. He informed the people that the Kigumba – Masindi – Hoima – Kyenjojo road construction was in progress. He was impressed with the condition of the feeder roads in the area following the Government policy of providing road construction equipment to all the districts in the country.
He further requested the people in the Kibanda North Constituency to vote in Taban Idi Amin as the next MP so that the Governments development efforts in the area may be realized. He stressed that when they vote in an NRM member, they are assured of prompt service since their need would be addressed.
President Museveni stressed that as the since NRM Government has done the needful in terms of development it was the duty of all families to ensure their households earn incomes.
Earlier, President Museveni addressed another rally at Yabweri Primary School grounds in Nanda village of Mutunda Sub-County, President Museveni urged the people to account for government services at all levels by ensuring that they oversee, protect and safeguard public property.
He informed the people of the area that the government has constructed major road networks adding that it will work on more including the Rwamukunyu road to go through to Masindi Port, Apac, Lira, Kigumba and Masindi. He urged the residents to embrace the Government’s Operation Wealth Health (OWC) programme in order to eradicate household poverty not in Bunyoro but throughout the country.
Deputy Secretary General of NRM, Mr. Richard Twodong, strongly advised the constituents to vote for leaders who subscribe to national unity.
