President Museveni in Addis for 30th Ordinary AU Session

President Yoweri Museveni has today arrived in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa to attend the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) that takes place from 22nd to 29th January 2018.
The assembly is being held under the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”.
During the summit, the President will receive an update on the Peer Review of the Republic of Uganda from the African Peer Review Mechanism.
A Specialized Agency of the African Union (AU), the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) was initiated in 2002 and established in 2003 by the African Union in the framework of the implementation of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
APRM is a tool for sharing experiences, reinforcing best practices, identifying deficiencies, and assessing capacity-building needs to foster policies, standards and practices that lead to political stability, high economic growth, sustainable development and accelerated sub- regional and continental economic integration.
The President was seen off at Entebbe Interntional Airport by the Minister for the Presidency Esther Mbayo, IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura,  Deputy CDF, Lt General Wilson Mbadi and the Director of prisons David Nsalasatta.
On arrival at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, the President was received by the Ethiopian Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Fekadu Beyene, Ugandas’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa, the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Adolf Mwesige, the Minister of State for Planning David Bahati, Ugandan Ambassador to Ethiopia Rebecca Atengo, the Uganda Deputy Defence Advisor in-Charge of AU and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Colonel Sarah Mpabwa among others.
