UGANDA TO HOST 163 HEADS OF STATE AND OVER 15,000 SCOUTS DELEGATES AT THE INTERNATIONAL SCOUTS CENTENARY JAMBOREE UGANDA 2015
 

The Government of Uganda under the leadership of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development together with the Uganda Scouts Association will be hosting the International Scouts Centenary Jamboree from 18thto 28th August 2015 at Kaazi National Scouts Campsite at the shores of Lake Victoria. This International Scouts Jamboree is expected to bring together over 15,000 Scouts from 163 member Countries of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

As is the tradition at International Scout Jamborees, H.E President Yoweri Museveni as Patron of Uganda Scouts Association is expected to invite all the 163 Heads of State and Government who are Patrons of the Scout Associations in the 163 member countries of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

On 22nd February 2014, H.E. President Yoweri Museveni, Patron of Uganda Scouts Association launched the Roadmap for the “Celebration of 100 years of Scouting in Uganda” and officially invited Scouts from all over the world to Uganda for the International Scouts Centenary Jamboree.

For the successful organization of the International Scouts Centenary Jamboree, a multi-stakeholder national organization committee (NOC) has been put in place. The National Organization Committee is chaired by Hon. Mary KarooroOkurut, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development who is deputized by Gen. Edward KatumbaWamala the Chief of Defence Forces, Brig. Gen. KainerugabaMuhoozi the Commander of Special Forces and Prof. Maggie Kigozi the Chief Scout, Uganda Scouts Association.

In October 2014, H.E. President Yoweri Museveni is expected to launch the National Organizing Committee for the Jamboree. The International Scouts Centenary Jamboree is a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts from almost every country in the world. For ten days they live together, experience each other’s cultures, take part in exciting activities and have an amazing adventure.

The International Scouts Centenary Jamboree Uganda 2015offers a great opportunity to promote Uganda’s image and tourism industry. The Jamboree will also provide immense social and economic benefits to Uganda’s economy.

The International Scouts Centenary Jamboree will be the biggest youth event ever held in Uganda, both for the number of youth in attendance and the number of participating countries. Massive preparation is necessary to make this huge international event go smoothly.

The Government of Uganda therefore calls on the support of the public and private sector in the successful organization of this International Scouts Jamboree.
