Monday, 27th November 2017

President Yoweri Museveni has said that the Government of Uganda is ready to support the proposed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) project.

The President made the assurance today at State House, Entebbe when he received and held a meeting with a delegation of the Dubai based Hass Petroleum Group that was led by the Executive Chairman and Strategy Advisor, East and Central Africa, Mr. Abdinasir Ali Hassan.

“The Government is ready to buy refillable gas cylinders and distribute them to wananchi as long as they are locally manufactured. I support you in the value addition proposal,” he told his guests.

He said that the Government of Uganda would provide them with more land in the various towns in the country to facilitate the project.

The President’s decision was in response to the investors’ request for Government support in adding value to the crude oil from Western Uganda’s Albertine region.

The Executive Chairman of Hass, Mr. Abdinasir Hassan, expressed interest in the processing of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from crude oil and revealed that his company plans to establish LPG centres in 10 major towns in Uganda.

State Minister for Investment, Hon. Evelyn Anite, among others, attended the meeting. ENDS
