GOVERNMENT TO STRENGTHEN UGANDA AIR CARGO TO SUPPORT EXPORTS – PRESIDENT

STATE LODGE, NAKASERO: President Yoweri Museveni has said there is a need to sort out the business roles between the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) and KACITA, a business support association in Uganda in order to promote trade and development.

“KACITA is a business group. They buy from others and bring here. Ours is to do production ourselves, do import substitution and export promotion for tangible economic transformation,” he said.

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI URGES NARO ON BEEF RESEARCH, PRODUCTION

STATE HOUSE, ENTEBBE: President Yoweri Museveni has urged National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) to sensitize farmers against nomadic farming and instead adopt zero grazing to let the cows gain weight necessary for modernizing beef production for trade.

He said nomadic farming makes cows use a lot of energy, which can affect the rate of build up of its flesh.

KOLOLO CEREMONIAL GROUNDS: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief (C-i-C) of the Armed forces has reminded the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the UPDF of his advice to improve the welfare of soldier's and their families including providing free education for the children of the soldiers until they finish secondary level. He says this has been his wish since 1986.

PRESIDENT WOOS TURKISH INVESTORS ON MINERAL VALUE ADDITION

 

STATE HOUSE, ENTEBBE: President Yoweri Museveni has said Uganda has great potential in mineral exploration and development and only needs investors they can partner with to refine and add value for export.

“We are very interested in mineral development. On the gold, we have our own but also because of the security exports have gone up in the region. We have removed all taxes on refined minerals. If we can refine gold here, our people can benefit through making jewelry,” he said.

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI, RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR IN BILATERAL MEETING

STATE HOUSE, ENTEBBE: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today held a bilateral meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation H.E Vladlen Semivolos during which they discussed matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

Ambassador Vladlen Semivolos was accompanied by Dr. Evgeny Kalashnikov, the Ideology Head of Mission of the Russian Federation, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen Abubaker Jeje Odongo  Ambassador Arthur Kafeero.

GOVERNMENT SHOWS COMMITMENT IN PROMOTING SILKWORM FARMING IN UGANDA

At a distance, they look like tiny strips of white thread. But up close, you see some forward movements as the silkworms measuring about 35cm nibble at green mulberry leaves. The silkworm looks nothing like silk. Where the fabric is light, lustrous and delicate, the caterpillar is fat and grayish. A few meters away from a writhing mass of these worms, you can hear them joyfully devouring leaves in what sounds like a light rainfall on an old tinned roof.
