President Directs IGP on Security Plan for MUK

STATE LODGE: NAKASERO: President Yoweri Museveni has directed Makerere University administration to compare the University's tuition fees structure with that of other public universities within the country and also within the East African region and come up with a reasonable tuition policy. 

He also re-emphasized said that it is not a good idea for Makerere University to pay its lecturers using students’ tuition fees. 

President calls for Africa’s Integration

President Yoweri Museveni has called for the integration of the African continent to root for a more vibrant and strong economic base and prosperity like China and the United States of America have been able to do. He, however, stressed that Africa’s desired economic integration cannot be fully guaranteed unless the continent moves to grapple with challenges attendant to lack of strategic security.

“None of the Africa leaders was happy when Libya was attacked by the West and it could not defend itself,” he said.

President commissions Lira-based St. Gracious Secondary School

President Yoweri Museveni has attributed the mushrooming growth of private sector investments in the country to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Government’s principles of peace, democracy and freedom of individuals to work and own property.

The President was speaking yesterday at the ceremony of the commissioning of St. Gracious Secondary School in Adagayela village of Adekokwok Sub-County in Lira District in Northern Uganda. The school’s proprietor is Mr. Olet Patrick.

President installs Lira University Chancellor

Former Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki has been installed as the first Chancellor of Lira University by President Yoweri Museveni. The President also presided over the university’s first graduation ceremony of 150 pioneer graduates in the disciplines of Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology and Psychotherapy, Computer Science, Business Administration and Commerce, among others. The ceremony took place today in Ayere village of Baropo Sub-County in Lira District Lango Sub-Region in Northern Uganda. 

President Museveni meets with Danish Agricultural Investors

President Yoweri Museveni has encouraged Danish agricultural investors to consider setting up agricultural processing and production industries in Uganda as opposed to the costly process of importing agriculture machines.

The President made the remarks yesterday in a meeting with a visiting Danish agribusiness and food tech-business delegation from the Danish Agriculture and Food Council at State House, Entebbe, led by Mr Jeppe Sondergaard Pedersen.

President Pledges Continued Support to the Youth

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged continued support to the youth that are engaged in a diversity of development projects in the country.

“Through your SACCOs, the Government will support you especially if you are organized,” he said.

The President was today addressing Ghetto Youth Groups who are under their umbrella organization known as NRM Youth Camp at their Kibuye headquarters in Kampala District.
