President meets High Command

 

President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda armed forces has met with the UPDF High Command in a meeting that took place at State House Entebbe yesterday.

The High Command, which is the top decision-making organ of the UPDF, discussed among other things the security situation in the country and expressed satisfaction with the prevailing security in the country.

President Museveni meets UN Leaders, discuss security, UN Base

ADDIS ABABA. President Museveni has today (Sunday) met top United Nations Chiefs, discussing with them a range of issues on regional security, human rights and the fate of the UN base in Entebbe.

The meeting with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, happened on the side-lines of the on-going 32nd Ordinary Summit of the African Union Heads of State in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Let us not Repeat Mistakes of Past Leaders” – President Museveni warns Africa

Addis Ababa – Whereas African leaders of old made mistakes that led to the colonization of the continent and enabled slave trade to thrive, contemporary leaders must ensure these failings do not reoccur, President Museveni has said.

The President was today (Monday) addressing a breakfast meeting as the African Union marked the 400th anniversary of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. 

Regional peace will be strengthened, President assures EU

 

ADDIS ABABA. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assured the European Union (EU) that peace in the entire East African region will prevail as member countries’ leadership continues to strengthen their working relationship. 

‘’Peace in the region is getting better. Part of the problem in the region; South Sudan, Burundi was because we have not been working together. That was the source of the problem’’, he said.

Presidents Museveni, Bashir in Bilateral Meeting

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met the Sudan President Omar Ahmed al- Bashir ahead of the official opening of the 32nd AU summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The two leaders discussed various bilateral issues between their two countries and in the region. 

The meeting that took place at Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa was attended by the Uganda’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Sam Kuteesa and the government of Sudan counterparts among others.

 

President Museveni, GE Officials meet over Hospitals

ADDIS ABABA. President Museveni has met senior officials of General Electric (GE), promising that the government will continue partnering with them in the health sector. 

The President made the commitment yesterday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as he met Mr Farid Fezoua, the CEO of GE Africa & GE Healthcare and Mr Alexander Oketch, the GE Regional Projects Development director for East Africa. 

President meets Mental Health care group from UK

President Yoweri Museveni has welcomed a UK-based organization’s mission to conduct research in the sector of mental health care in Uganda with a view to availing further specialized services and rehabilitation of mentally destabilized people. 

 The President was meeting Sir Michael Hintze, Group Executive Chairman and Senior Investment Officer of the UK-based CQS, who called on him yesterday at State House, Entebbe. He was accompanied by a delegation that included Dr. Annalisa Jenkins, Chairperson of ‘You Belong Community’ Organisation in East Africa.
