President Museveni urges Ugandans to cherish unity; Launches UPE Book

President Yoweri Museveni has strongly urged the people of Tororo District in particular and Uganda in general to cherish unity by embracing the first principle of NRM, which is patriotism.

“It is not good to celebrate NRM Day without understanding NRM principles. NRM members of Tororo District you need to pull up your socks on Principle One of NRM, Patriotism,” he stressed.

Africa facing new Healthier Conflict, Population Growth – President Museveni

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND: President Yoweri Museveni has said the Africa continent is facing a new healthier conflict in terms of population growth now at 1.3 billion people, adding that the growing number of youth are not being accommodated by the economies.

“We need to address these issues; tackle social economic issues and avoid the usual conflicts that are mainly ideological,” he said.

President Museveni meets leaders of Botswana, South Africa, Belgium and Estonia

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND: President Museveni has today held bilateral meetings with Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. 

He also met the Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michel and Estonia's Prime Minister and head of government Juri Ratas. 

The closed meetings took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at the Congress Building in Davos Switzerland.

 

Uganda, Netherlands to cooperate in High-tech Agro Production

 

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND: President Yoweri Museveni has called on the Netherlands government to support Uganda scientists in the areas of agri-technologies especially in beef and milk to boost production.

“The Netherlands has high technology in animal production and agriculture. We want to send our scientists to learn these technologies in support of agriculture,” he said.

President to MTN, “Float Shares on Local Stock Exchange

 

President Yoweri Museveni has said government and business leaders must have a win-win formula devoid of exploitation of the local people to avoid grievances between locals and foreign investors.

“We had issues of people cheating our taxes and under declaring calls. We bought our own machines and were able to see all this. It is important that you float shares on the local stock exchange to allow for local ownership now that the license has been renewed,” he said.

Museveni, OXFAM Discuss Poverty Alleviation, Regional Peace

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND:  President Yoweri Museveni has said building strong internal middle class systems pushes for great dynamism for goods and services that build strong integration blocks and ultimately improve economic development and transformation.

The President was today meeting the OXFAM INTERNATION Executive Director Winnie Nyanyima who paid a courtesy call on him at Hotel Grischa Monta, in Davos.

Don’t use a Universal Dimension Approach to Shape Africa’s Future – President

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND: President Yoweri Museveni has said a universal dimension approach should not be used to shape Africa’s future adding that such a concept may have worked in the 1950s when the universal emphasis was on education which helped countries such as South Korea to develop and transform, but added that many other countries did not succeed.
