NRM Right Policies make Uganda one of the Fastest Growing world Economies - Museveni

KABALE DISTRICT: President Yoweri Museveni who is also the NRM Presidential flag bearer kicked off his scientific campaign meeting in greater Kigezi sub-region with assurances to Ugandans that because of the NRM right policies, the country has been recognized as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. 

The President was on Saturday meeting leaders from the 4 districts of Kabale, Kisoro, Rubanda and Rukiga who commended the NRM government under his stewardship for the development programs extended to their area.

“The wisdom and policies of the NRM government have made Uganda one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Unity, Peace, a strong army and pro-private sector policies is what has made Uganda the 5th fastest growing economies in the world according to Bloomberg group,” President Museveni said.

He added that it is the same environment that made one investor to describe our nation as a 3 P country that is Peaceful, Pleasant and Profitable. 

According to a Bloomberg report, the economies of Ethiopia, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Rwanda and Kenya withstood the economic impact of the pandemic so successfully that they were among the world’s 10 fastest-growing in 2020. At least five of them are expected to remain in that elite growth club through 2022, according to forecasts by economists compiled by Bloomberg during the past three months. Two years ago, Africa included only three of the best performers and in 2015 it had four.

The President gave the delegates a brief political history of Uganda that had leaders who were only promoting identity instead of the common interests of the people. He said the NRM government stood for interest and needs of the people that is why many industrial parks have now been opened regionally to provide employment to Ugandans.

He said the same investors also help the government by paying taxes whose funds are used for infrastructure development and for solving other social needs of Ugandans.

President Museveni also cited the growing industry by indigenous Ugandans like Aponye group that deal in produce and employ over 250 Ugandans. 

“If we had many more Aponye’s in Uganda the problem of employment would be solved,” he noted.

The leaders of Kabale, Kisoro, Rubanda and Rukiga in their memoranda thanked President Museveni for the good road net work  in the region.

“Your Excellency the people of Kigezi region are very happy for the roads that have been tarmacked- from Kabale-Rubanda-Kisoro and the road from Ntungamo-Kabale-Katuna and others whose construction is on-going,” said the NRM chairman for Rubanda district Mr. Negamahe Apollo who read the memorandum.

The meeting took place at Kabale Municipality Stadium and was attended by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Ministers, MPs Flag bearers and delegates from the districts of Kigezi region.

Mr. Apollo Negamahe said they are very excited about the completion of the 6 mwts Muvumbe electricity dam in Maziba that will provide them with power.

They also thanked President Museveni and the NRM government for the peace in Uganda, for granting Rukiga and Rubanda district status and the health services now enjoyed by the people of the region. The people of Kigezi are also thankful the President for the modern market that is being constructed in Kabale .

The people of the new district of Rukiga in their memo read by Hon. Caroline Kamusiime who is also the flag bearer for the Woman MP position in Rukiga district applauded NRM government under the leadership of President Museveni for the Rutobo–Kamwesi-Kebisoni road.

They also thanked President Musveni for the new Rushereya market and the new facilities that have been constructed at Muhanga Senior Secondary Schools.

Mr. Nsaba Buturo read the memorandum by the people of Kisoro who praised the NRM Presidential flag bearer for converting Ichuya game reserve into a National Park.

They further thanked President Museveni for the electricity that is now in many rural areas of Kisoro district.

Earlier the chairman of Kabale central division Mr. Kabagambe thanked President Museveni for being the best leader this country has ever had.

“Your Excellency we are very grateful for the peace, electricity and the good roads in our region of Kigezi. In fact you are the sweetest President Uganda has had since Independence,” he said. 

He pledged to ensure that NRM wins in the forthcoming elections.

The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, and the Regional NRM Vice Chairman Hon Chris Baryonmusi together with the Deputy Secretary General NRM Hon. Richard Todwong urged Kigezi leaders to ensure that the scientific door to door campaign will see NRM sail through this coming elections with ease.
