President Urges Educationists, Parents on Career Guidance

STATE HOUSE, ENTEBBE: President Yoweri Museveni has strongly urged educationists and parents as well as all leaders in Uganda to guide students on what courses to pursue that are on the job market.

“Education without aim is very dangerous especially for the family who spend money on children doing courses which dont have market on the for sectors is a very big mistake,” he said.

The President was yesterday presiding over the virtual 11th graduation ceremony for Busitema University at a ceremony held at State House, Entebbe.

President Museveni flanked by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni, said students should aim at courses that cover commercial agriculture, industry, services, ICT and public service that has limited slots. 

He cited courses offered at Busitema and the marine course at Namasagali that are very important given the shortage of marine engineers and operators.

P{resident Museveni also called on students at Busitema University to always be tolerant and patient whenever they are faced with challenges and pursue the channel of dialogue other than confrontation.

“Dialogue is better than confrontation, because confrontation will always have negative effects on your personal life,” he counseled.

The President further urged them not to be complacent on the COVID 19 pandemic and HIV/AIDS adding that the diseases are  with us and everybody must be very vigilant by observing the guide lines set by Ministry of Health that include all the SOPs.

President Museveni congratulated the grandaunts, all parents and the academia of Busitema for the journey they have walked and wished them good luck.

The Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni called on all Ugandans to thank God for the clear guidelines set by government that have spared many from the COVID-19 pandemic.

She also thanked President Museveni for the steps he took to send 15 million learners home to save them from harms way.

‘No death has been recorded among the students,” she announced.

Mrs. Museveni congratulated Busitema University, Academic staff and the senate for the job well done and also thanked the grandaunts for working hard.
