PROFESSOR APOLLO NSIBAMBI DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

Statement
The Government of Uganda regrets to announce the passing of Former Prime Minister, Professor Apollo Nsibambi 1940 – 2019. Nsibambi who served as Uganda’s Prime Minister for 12 years from 1999 to 2011 has died aged 78.
Nsibambi served as Minister of Public Service and Minister of Education between 1996 and 1998 before being elevated to Prime Minister of Uganda.
Before joining Government service, Nsibambi served in different capacities at Makerere University from 1978 to 1996 and later also served as the Chancellor of the same University from 2003 until 2007
Professor Nsibambi is survived by a widow Esther who he married in 2003 after the death of his first wife Rhoda in 2001. He is a father and Grand Father
Government of Uganda condoles with the family of the late and arrangements for his burial will be announced later in consultation with the family
