President Museveni urges the youths to Engage in Agro-Production, Value Addition

President Yoweri Museveni has called on the youths in particular and the country at large to engage in commercial agro-production and value addition as a means of eradicating household poverty.

“Food production only for the stomach is not good. You must have income for yourselves. In all that you do, you must work with good calculations. I want to support the youth groups of Karamoja by donating to them flour mills and enable the production of animal feeds. This will assure us of value addition,” he said.

“Government Lifts Ban on Sugarcane Export to Kenya” – President Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has said that the Government of Uganda has lifted the ban on the export of raw sugarcane to Kenya for a period of only three months effective next week. The move, he said, aims at allowing Ugandan farmers sell the surplus sugarcane that is not consumed locally.

“Mature sugarcane that doesn’t have ready buyers from local millers, should be exported,” he said.

CAPE TOWN. The success of businesses in Africa is important because it has a direct role in ending polarisation and causing sustainable peace, President Museveni has said.

The President, who is accompanied by First Lady Janet, made the remarks today (Wednesday) at the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa, where he was part of a panel discussion on the theme "Towards Peace".

Presidents Museveni, Salva Kiir hold Bilateral meeting in Entebbe

President Yoweri Museveni and his South Sudan counterpart Salva Kiir have held bilateral discussions at State House, Entebbe on matters pertaining to the 2 sister countries. President Kiir arrived in Uganda today on a 2-day working visit at the invitation of his host. 

The two leaders’ bilateral discussions also included matters relating to the extension of the road and electricity to South Sudan’s Capital, Juba.

“SACCOs’ role is to improve pillars of Prosperity for All programme” – President Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has said that the role of Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies is to improve the pillars of the Government’s Prosperity for All Programme. 

“I pronounced Bonna Bagaggawale/Prosperity for All in 1995. It is based on 4 pillars namely, production, value addition, information and financial services. SACCOs fall under financial services and their roles are to improve the 4 pillars. It is your hard work and commitment towards nation building that will ensure the success of your SACCO,” he said.
