Saturday, August 3, 2019

State house wishes to caution the public against conmen who demand for money allegedly to arrange meetings for them with the President.

This follows the arrest of a one Taremwa Daniel Rweishe Kabandize, a resident of Makindye, Salaama road in Kampala who was on Wednesday 31st July 2019, arrested by security operatives around Victoria mall, for soliciting money from an investor working with Butter Bay a Swedish Company involved in recycling/turning rubbish into bio gas/electricity.

“Taremwa posed as a State House protocol officer. He had asked for US$5000 to arrange for an appointment with H.E the President and had already taken US$1000. However after a tipoff from an official of the company, he was nabbed and handed over to security for processing. He is currently with security as his communication pattern is being reviewed to help find possible connivances /accomplices if any,” Nabusayi Lindah Wamboka, the Press Secretary to the President said, adding “State house has official channels and laid out procedures for meeting the President. The public is therefore asked to alert security if they have been asked to pay to see the President.

“There is standard protocol through which members of the public can seek to meet the President including through official communication at the Presidents office at Parliament building. We want to caution the public not to deal with people like Taremwa or his accomplices. You should also always insist on identification from any individual claiming to be working for state house and to crosscheck your information to avoid being duped,” she said.

Several unscrupulous individuals have tried before to con unsuspecting members of the public of money claiming to be working for State House. However, these are always arrested after tipoffs to police and security.
