In October 2018, while the President of Uganda was on his duty tour of Kampala Central Business District, the business community of Kampala raised several concerns regarding their welfare and other conditions that affected their work in Kampala Central Business District.
Among issues raised were:-

Government has noted with concern the unfortunate situation going on in-downtown Kampala Central Business District along Nakivubo Road. We wish to condemn the unacceptable actions by some property owners who have been closing shopping arcades without any notice or even due regard to the livelihood of tenants operating in those premises.
