President Museveni in Addis Ababa for AU Summit

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa, where he joins other Heads of State and Governments for the 32nd Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit.

On arrival at Bole International Airport, the President was received by AU commissioner in-charge of Infrastructure and Energy Abou Zeid, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kuteesa, the Minister of State for Planning David Bahati, Uganda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the Africa Union Rebecca Amuge Otengo, the Deputy Defence Advisor for AU/IGAD Colonel Sarah Mwesigwa Mpabwa among others.

This year’s AU Assembly of the Heads of State and Government focuses on the theme: “Refugees, Returnees, and Internal Persons: Towards Durable Solutions To Forced Displacement in Africa”.

Prior to the official opening of the assembly on Sunday 10th February, the summit is expected to focus on Africa’s development planning strategies including discussions on pertinent areas like; climate change, political state of Libya, Somalia external debt cancellation among others.
